Thursday, August 5

Men will be lovers of themselves.—2 Tim. 3:2.

The world has encouraged an inflated view of self. One reference work says that during the 1970’s “self-help books proliferated.” Some books “urged readers to know and accept themselves and to celebrate who they were.” Consider, for example, the statement made in one such book: “Be in love with the most beautiful, exciting, worthy person ever—you.” The book advocates a “religion of the self in which an individual determines his own behavior based upon his own conscience and the laws of his culture that work for him.” Does that idea sound familiar to you? Satan encouraged Eve to do something similar. He said that she could “be like God, knowing good and bad.” (Gen. 3:5) Today, many think so highly of themselves that in their opinion no one—not even God—can tell them what is right and what is wrong. For example, that attitude has become especially evident in the way people view marriage. w19.05 23 ¶10-11

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

This days text so sums up the attitude in the world , the children grow up in the environment of telling them to think themselves special , then on the other end of the scale because of abuse and others selfishness others grow up feeling unworthy and unlovable .

only Jehovah can sort this out Satan has done such a good job on finding ways to mess people up , it’s not curable in this system.

This characteristic can quietly enter the Christian congregation. If we are not careful, we may find ourselves insisting on doing what we believe is right in our own eyes & ignoring or disregarding the suggestions from the Governing Body.

We can ask ourselves: Am I known of being too critical to what the elders are saying & always opinionated? If that is the case we are not different to the people of the last days, “lovers of themselves”.

Growing up I remember Saturday morning cartoons had a catchy song - the most important person in the whole wide world is you....From a young age Satan has warped the thoughts of children No doubt her has done similar things around the world. It's no wonder selfishness abounds

The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah
